About This Blog

Where I live in Edinburgh I have the choice of two local supermarkets - Tesco on Duke Street and Lidl in the Kirkgate Centre. The grapevine tells me that the Lidl is one of the busiest and most profitable in the UK.

As I decidedly middle class shopper it's taken a while for me to get used to shopping at Lidl, but now I do as much of my shopping there as I can. I really am following the Guardian trend. Because it can be a little bit hit-or-miss, I've decided to start this slightly tongue-in-cheek blog to review their products that I use for your benefit.

Once you get the format of the blog, please feel free to contact me on Twitter if you're interested in doing a guest post for me. We get most of our veg from an organic box delivery (I did tell you I'm middle class!) and meat from a local butchers, so I can't review everything, so I would appreciate guest posts.

All prices and local goods are based on what Lidl sell at my local store, so on fresh food in particular, it might not be the same across the UK. Also, some things like wine, might not be available all the time. In fact it was enjoying far too many bottles of nice cheeky rose Sancere from Lidl that got me thinking about doing this blog.

Over on Urban Policy and Practice I blog about other stuff. I was going to say "more serious" stuff, but honestly, there's nothing more serious than shopping at Lidl.

  1. MixUnit - Stay In The Mix. Clothing, ALL - Streetwear, Graphic Tees, Sneaker Shirts, Hip-Hop ,T-Shirts, Urban Gear & more.

  2. Sorry you have not kept up with the blog. I am a great fan of Lidl and am related via marriage to a supplier of their cold meats. If they are are demanding on all their suppliers as they are with my relative you can be sure you are getting a high quality product at a rock bottom price.
